About Ayam Cemani Chickens

The Ayam Cemani is among one of the rarest breeds of chicken in the world. This give them a status symbol and are sought-after by collectors. We got our first Ayam Cemanis in 2020. We quickly fell in love with deep black color that also shines iridescent purples and greens in the sunlight. Not only are their outside features black, but so is their skin, internal organs and bones! Ayam Cemani chickens have a dominant gene that causes the hyperpigmentation making them appear this way. This breed originated from the island of Java in Indonesia and was used for religious and mystical purposes since the 12th century. Ayam Cemani chickens are ornamental only laying around 80 eggs annually. (The eggs are a light cream color) The Ayam Cemani chickens are a prize bird and a perfect collector bird to add to your flock, it is sure to turn heads!
